This fixture is very stylish and looks great under my round table. It is large so it should be hung in a room that is not a small space. The only con was that there was no instructions included to hang the fixture or the wire covers so my husband had to go buy some. Otherwise, I love it!

What a hassle! I bought the smaller ones as well and they were difficult to hang--and so was this one. To boot, it comes together slightly differently than the smaller ones, so.. more grief. Yes, the instructions are very cryptic and, after some head-scratching and assembling, I handed it off to my father. I've hung fixtures before and didn't even nick a manicure, but this is for the AVID DYE-er--not a pike like me. It even made my Dad mad--and that NEVER happens. But it's up, it's pretty. It's cheap, though. The diffuser is plastic and it looks plastic. It came scratched. I wish it would recess into the shade less, so that the inner rim can't be seen form the bottom, but... details, details. Just prep yourself: read the directions, put it together before you hang it, get to know the mechanism that drops the wire... then get a second pair of hands. I also wrapped the shade in wax paper so I'd avoid finger-printing it. Once hung, I took it off and the angels sang. I'd recommend it, with lots of reservations.

Other reviews noted the instructions were lacking. I am mechanically inclined and did not have any problems installing the light. The wire descriptions are incorrect so you will need to confirm where each of the 3 wires go. I used a multimeter to confirm the wiring. My girlfriend and I love the light!

I purchased this lamp for it's clean, simple design that coordinates with my decor. It's wide, circular shade fits well over my round dining room table. I like that it provides lots of light - up to 300 watts worth. I'm using four 60 watt bulbs in it and put it on a dimmer switch, so I can tone it down when that much light isn't necessary. It's a very versatile fixture that can work just as well in a modern, transitional or traditional style room. See my photo of what the fixture looks like from above. It's open- so no diffuser on top. I hung mine at my eye level and only a really tall person would see the exposed part.As other reviewers have mentioned, this is a DIFFICULT INSTALLATION. The instructions are very lacking - it's mostly a very basic diagram. If you aren't very mechanically inclined, I would recommend a professional installer or at least get a friend who can hold it while you hang it. I hung this myself solo and it took a long time to get it up there. Following are MY OWN TIPS FOR INSTALLATION - it's a lot of detail, but I hope it can save someone some time or headaches.I hung this on a regular height ceiling (8 foot I think), so I only used about 3 feet of the wire and cables. It came with about 9.5 - 10 feet of wire/cable length (from canopy to the fixture) so it's plenty long and suitable for tall ceilings also. That was actually a bit too much for me, as the ceiling box I mounted this too didn't have room for the excess electrical wire. I ended up cutting a good portion of it off, and had to strip the wires of their insulation. That was a pain as the outer jacket of the insulation is kind of rigid and it's possible to cut too far into the individual wires' insulation. Again, a professional would have no problem with this. The instructions don't mention anything about the adjustment/leveling of the four suspension cables and that's the real challenge. Each cable comes with these thumb-screw things that clamp down on it. These are the stops that determine the height you hang the fixture and adjust to level it once it's hanging. For each cable there are 2 clamps, one at the top near the canopy and one down by the lamp base. Before I hung anything, I used a tape measure to adjust each of these to the length I needed. It was tricky and you need to be precise to get them all the same. The clamp screws can be slid in one direction without unscrewing them (the direction opposite of the weight of the lamp would pull). That's good to know, so you can adjust them fairly easily to the fraction of an inch. If you move it too far, you will have to unscrew it and slide it back, then tighten it down. It's a very small part and requires a bit of finesse. For the clamps down by the lamp base, I left an INCH OR TWO OF SLACK, so I have room to adjust and level after it was hanging (see photo below). After that, it's a fairly straight-forward hanging and wiring process. Once it's up there, you'll probably have to level it out.

Man, this light is beautiful!!! Very elegant in our new kitchen. The only con was one of the supports that holds the wire was missing a ballbering. I had to take apart one that did not "catch/hold" the metal wire and move that one small ballbering to the support "catch/holding" one. If you get it and it happens you'll know what I'm talking about. Other then that you need a level to hang it. And it's not a very easy light to hang but with patience you'll get it. We were going to go with the smaller version but glad we went with this one. Our kitchen table is not huge but the small light would ahve been too dim.

We love the illumination this light provide. It is a really nice design. It is made well too. The only "but" is there is not enough instruction that comes with the fixture. We have to figure it out a lot of things. The diagram was usefull, but it does not show how the wires works.

Pros: This is over my dining room table in an open floor plan and works perfectly. It makes a striking statement, but doesn't get in the way or look as showy or ridiculous as some designs might. The shade does not obstruct the view across the room because it is not very tall. It is an outstanding choice for a space that is modern or transitional, which are the two styles I needed to encompass. I wish there was a smaller "mini-pendant" version for my kitchen island. A smaller version would also have been just what i wanted for the reading lights on each side of our bed.
Cons: It is a bit tricky getting the shade leveled with the 4 suspension wires, but it is worth messing around with. the adjustment mechanism is easy to operate, so it just takes some time and patience. (Beside the obvious reason, it has to be leveled so the diffuser inside won't look crooked when the light is on.) i will point out that the center electrical cord should be longer than the 4 suspension wires. My electrician installed it with that cord hanging straight. I had to ask him to adjust it so it would have that graceful sigmoidal curve, which meant it ended up a bit higher than i had intended it to be, but that is an insignificant detail when the fixture is so beautiful.
I chose this partly because i am getting ready to sell the house and wanted it to be stylish but not over the top. We are moving to an apartment and I wish I could take this with us.

We LOVE the look of this clean white fixture. The contemporary design is simple enough to look perfect in our hundred year old house. It really updates the space! We plan to buy another one for over the dining room table. The only reason I said it was hard to hang was because of the diffuser. It was not perfectly balanced, so we had to stuff some paper into the frame of the shade to balance it. This worked, and our diffuser is now perfectly straight.
