Good concept, poor Chinese quality

As others have reported, the switch failed, At first I worked around the problem by installing a cord switch. Then by removing the original switch and soldering the wire ends together. Unlike other my transformer also failed. I had to purchase a replacement and splice it in line. Good lighting concept, poor Chinese quality.

Disappointment

Loved the design and utility until the switch went bad. Opened it on two occasions to solder the connections, still failed. Would like another but I don't see or read about any design corrections . . . too bad, looked a long time before I bought the first one.

I guess I can't complain too much. I have absolutely loved this lamp for 5 or 6 years now. it was great for art projects or any fine detail work really. recently the switch finally gave out. My fiancé Jerry-rigged a replacement which worked for a couple months until the connection between the power cord and the plug just disintegrated on me one day. This lamp would have been great were it not for a couple poorly constructed but key parts. Still debating on whether to get a replacement given the new switch or try my luck with another brand.

This lamp is a big disappointment, particularly given the price. Switch became erratic within 12 months, casing seems to be melting, lamp frame gets extremely hot. Not recommended. Not sure why the manufacturer did not catch these flaws.

I had a lamp almost exactly like this on my desk for 20 years. It was the most used lamp in the house, loved it. The only problem was the switch which finally gave out and it was one that could not be replaced. This new lamp has a different kind of switch, a dimmer switch, which is nice to have but not as convenient as the old one. Otherwise, I love this lamp. It doesn't get in the way because its so streamlined and it has great reach. It also puts out an amazing amount of light when turned on full power. I also use it to light the rest of my office when I need extra light. The only con might be, because it is a halogen bulb (50w), it does get hot. But it's never been a problem for me.

From the beginning the switch was loose and within a few months, difficult to switch on and off. After about a half year it is almost impossible to work. I like the long reach which illuminates the exact area for reading.
