You should use a small level to mount the wall plate so the extending arms will be parallel with the floor. Use a slightly smaller drill bit than the molly. If you don't, the molly supplied with the lamp will be pushed through into the wall cavity. We enjoy reading in bed and these really fit the bill and look great.
