Bad choice for a desk

When used as a desk lamp, you will be staring at the bare bulbs. Lamp is tall, shade is short, and bulb are positioned near the bottom of the shade. Might work for a VERY tall person, but not for me. I am going to try to modify the lamp to lower the shade about three inches, which might make it usable.

This lamp is used in my living room next to the sofa. We like the way the light is projected upward and downward. The stately simple lines are quite elegant. We did, however, have to lower the shade so the light bulbs were not visible. We had to replace the tubing column under the top finial to do this. Also, at certain angles the gold foil that lines the black shade can produce a glare. Love the way it looks!

This is a beautiful lamp. However, the finial is antique brass and the lamp itself is a brilliant brass. It is not an inexpensive lamp, so I felt more attention should be paid to detail such as this. I would still buy it again because it is so classy. It improves the look of any room you put it in.

We were told a tall lamp with a black shade would go well on the table. This lamp was "just right". The 2 pull chains are a nice touch. That and the marble base which compliments the "piano lamp", also brass with a black marble base sold us on it. We are very pleased with this purchase.
