I love this fixture but wanted to let people know how I installed it. It is heavy and I installed it myself. The instructions are good but could use some extra tips. The fixture comes with 4 bolts that are 8 inches long - used to temporarily suspend the canopy (where cables are attached) to the ceiling mount. This allows you to install the cables and balance the ring that holds the glass before you attach all the way up to the ceiling. Once you have all cables in and everything looks good - you take out the 4 temporary lag bolts and lift the entire fixture up and attach to the ceiling. There was no way a single person can install this without a trick. So I built a 4 leg stand out of 2x4s with a top plate. I have 10 foot ceilings so my legs were 99 inches long and I added a 1/2 inch top. I made the table 18" x 18" - and that provided a surface just below the light where I could rest all of the parts. You want the table top to be 20 inches below the ceiling to give you room to suspend the light from the 4 temporary bolts and make sure that the fixture is balanced. Once I got everything right I started sliding boxes and pieces of wood to raise the entire fixture up. Once I got the canopy close to the ceiling - I removed the 4 temporary bolts and then continued to add a few pieces of wood under the light to finally get the canopy flush with ceiling and put the nuts on to permanently hold it. Without the table as an assistant putting this light up myself would have been impossible.
I installed this item in my living room. I did not want a bulky chandelier, rather a light feature that made a more sublime statement. I installed a dimmer switch to it and keep it half lit. It's absolutely gorgeous and I get a lot of compliments on it. I can see the light through my front window. I keep it on most the time. I love it. It is heavy. Takes two people to install. Enjoy.
