I bought this lamp to use as reading lamp on an end table beside my living room sofa. I was pleasantly surprised at how heavy and substantial it is. It has a traditional look, but still looks nice with my camelback sofa and loveseat and updates the room. I use it with the dimmer. I'm very pleased with this lamp.

We bought these to replace lamps we'd returned because the swing arms didn't move well. These are not as beautiful, but the swing arms move properly. They are quite sturdy, with a heavy base. They are bigger than they look in the photos. They come with CFL bulbs that are, in my opinion, too bright. We ended up buying two of the in-line dimmer referenced below, and replacing the bulb in each lamp with a 95-watt incandescent.

This lamp was pretty much as advertised, except that it would not hold a 150 watt equivalent CFL. I could get the 120 watt equivalent bulb in it, though. I hope that smaller CFL's are created in the future, so that I can get more light out of this lamp. Also, the lamp shade is a bit weird. I had to straighten out the fabric so that it wouldn't appear to be lopsided. That wasn't hard to do. The base of the lamp is a good weight, so that the lamp is steady with the arm at full extension.
