the picture doesnt show you but the lights have cut out starts on top so when you illuminate them, stars and moons show up above the lights! i have them outside on my covered patio and they cast "starlight" on the roof...it is really cool! we bought a few strands b/c the light isn't too strong, but if you get enough of them its perfect. the price is right, so why not! when we entertain outside in the summer people always comment on the starlight that is projected on the roof...its a great piece!

Easy to install. Some of the parts were loose coming out of the box but easily go back into place. What's really cool is the stars that shine onto my patio cover from the lights. Well worth it, but I agree with the other reviewer that I'd prefer glass or a harder material covering the lights.

I was surprised to see that the "glass" part of these lanterns is a flimsy plastic film, which probably does make sense to keep the string of lights from being too heavy, but they feel a bit fragile and the film tends to slip around when they are moved or stored.
