I purchased both Ott lamps for my husband who is in his late 40s and an avid reader. The Ott Lite reduces eye strain & fatigue and makes reading more enjoyable. We replaced a halogen lamp with this lamp. There's a big difference! We're very satisfied with our purchase. I purchased this desk lamp (pharmacy style) over the other more stylish lamps because I wanted the higher wattage (20W vs. 18W or 13W). There weren't any other options. But, it works for us because it is masculine and on his desk! I would highly recommend the Ott Lite

Too bright and hurts my eyes

This light looks nice on the showroom floor, but when you set it up at home, you realize it is too bright for the eyes. You think to yourself, "I'll just change the bulb to something less bright." But you can't, you are stuck with the bright white light bulb. So I returned it.

I needed a lamp for the office and I don't like modern, chrome fixtures. I wanted it to be more homey. The finish is elegant and the neck of the lamp is long enough that I can illuminate many areas of my desk since the overhead, flourescent lighting in the office is scattered and there is no lighting over my desk.
