We placed this in a hallway upstairs. The light is beautiful off and looks like a work of art. When turned on, the amazing shadows cast on the ceiling makes the light so much more. I can't say enough about it! It is heavy and I held it as my husband installed it. Such great quality for the price. I will probably get another for the bedroom.

I used this light fixture in my art Gallery as a sconce in a stairway. It really adds drama to the landing area which is exactly what I wanted. It really is a "wow" piece.
It is very heavy and took two of us to install it...one to hold it up while the other did the wiring.

I love this item as a wall sconce. The effects of the lighting image on the wall is dazzling. I want to invite people over at night just to show it off. As soon as they enter my house, it is hung the foyer high, center of a beautiful wall painted a dark bluish grey. I love it!

As other raters had warned, the fixture is heavy and I had to help the installer hold it up as he installed it. Although I ordered it to place above my bath tub in the bathroom, it was so gorgeous, I wanted everyone to see it so I installed it in the kitchen over the table. I have other recessed separate lighting in the kitchen, so the fact that this fixture does not give off a lot of light is not a problem. As a matter of fact, with all the other lighting off, it creates a warm intimate ambiance. I love it.

This little light is an exceptionally useful fixture in that it can go so many places and be a wonderful visual and decorative fixture without being an overstatement. It really hugs the ceiling, so it is great for regular ceilings and it throws the most wonderful array of light because it is close to the ceiling. I can imagine this as a wonderful pair of sconces in a bathroom or over a fireplace. I have used it in a long hallway and liked it so much I put in two. The effect is wonderful. I was surprised at how much ambient light it does provide, as so many hallway appropriate lights are just too dim. I would imagine the problem with the silver tipped bulb burning out is because it gets too hot from the reflection of the silver. No matter, you will love this fixture.

We have two of these lights in our living room. Previously, we had standard apartment lighting and we never used our overheads even though it was our living room. Just too bright, and too harsh even though we ate in there and pretty much everything else. With these lights, and a dark taupe ceiling, the whole room has been transformed into artwork, especially at night. Just gorgeous.

We have it in a small hallway and plan to use it as a cool night night for the hall. So far we haven't gotten it on a dimmer but still love it. It is more than enough light for that area and we get lots of compliments on it. We had electrician install it and he said it was piece of cake to install.

WE used this as a ceiling fixture in our kitchen. The lighting is for passage through only. It's too dim to be a primary source. We have lots of other lighting in addition to this. But, oh my! What it lacks in watts it more than makes up for in looks. It's like a little chandelier in the kitchen. When lit, it makes a pattern of light rays on the ceiling. Everyone who enters our kitchen exclaims how unique and "cool" the light is. It's like the jewel of the kitchen. I'm so happy with it. The electrician did say it was difficult to install, but he did it in one try.

An electrician installed this fixture in my small, contemporary kitchen. The light is just gorgeous. It looks like a mini chandelier and makes light rays across the ceiling. The electrician thought it was high quality, was muttering during installation, but it seemed to go OK. I worry about bulb replacement. My kitchen is 12 x 16 and the light from this fixture is really too dim except to serve as enough light to pass through the room, but we had many other lights installed, under the counters, spots in alcoves, so it worked out. But I wouldn't recommend it as a single room light.
Of all the remodeling work we've done in our house, this fixture gets the most oohs and aahs.

Hard to install, but worth the effort. Comes with one special silver light bulb- if no replacement is available for it the fixture may look bad with regular light bulb. Gives a good amount of illumination, is useful as well as decorative.

I bought two of these lights one for the hallway and one for the foyer. I love the way they look because they replaced ugly globes with brass trim and the new look is wonderful! The lights make an interesting pattern on the ceiling when on and still have interest when turned off. I llike them a lot:).

i didn't install this because even if i were an electrician, i probably wouldn't have been able to hold it up myself with one hand while wiring with the other--it's really heavy. my professional electrician was able to though. it's not very bright, but certainly creates a warm, welcoming glow in an entry area (might not do such a good job in a larger space, but then there's a bigger version for that). very high quality and beautiful design. casts beautiful shadow patterns on the ceiling.

Very attractive, electrician is recommended, I had a professionsl install this, it took him about 15 minutes, it might be difficult for a "do it yourself-er, it is heavy. The silver tipped bulb, reflects upward, and casts appealing shadow on the ceiling. I installed this in a hallway, and the 13" gives just enough light. I love mine.

Installation is really difficult. The fixture is very heavy and you need one person to hold it in place and another to screw in the screws. Only problem is that it is almost impossible to get a screwdriver and your fingers in the right position to screw them in, so it is almost impossible not to drop the screw but the person holding the fixture can't let go and take a rest because the electrical wires are connected. We ended up resting the fixture on a ladder raised to the right height with one person holding it in place but not having to hold the entire weight. We installed two of these and we were both sore for days after.IT WAS WORTH THE TROUBLE, THEY ARE UNUSUAL AND JUST STUNNING!
