Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Purchased for my 80 yo mom who sits on the couch but never has enough light for sewing projects or crosswords. This lamp does all that and ALSO provides a measurable amount of heat - which at her age is as great as all the light that is shed on her! As a 50 yo woman and only 5'1" assembly was a wee bit of a challenge but with a step ladder got it accomplished - just took some ingenuity!
