The LR6 downlight module is for both new and retrofit construction. It installs easily in most standard six inch recessed light housings, including IC and non-IC units. The LR6 generates white light with built-in LED bulbs that offers a natural glow with high energy savings. Light output is 650 lumens. Pulls 12 watts of power. Utilizes GU-24 base for new light conversion construction projects in California and other areas where high energy efficacy line voltage sockets are required. The modules are dimmable with an estimated life around 50,000 hours, 5 times that of most compact fluorescent lamps. They consume only 12 watts of power but produce the equivalent of a 65 watt incandescent or 18 watt compact fluorescent. With an average usage at 5 hours a day, you could get over 25 years of life out of a single recessed lighting fixture depending on how it is used. Title 24 Compliant

I put four of these in kitchen during major renovation in 2008. Hardest part was convincing California electrician to install an incandescent can, with no ballast. He was amazed by light output, with ONLY 12 WATTS. Downlighting is perfect application for LED technology, very directional (CFL light goes all directions, gets lost in the can). Lots of light, instant-on, no flicker, no bulb to replace. You'll remodel again before this unit burns/dims out - 15, 20 years, seriously. Note re: using dimmers, wattage is so low, many dimmers won't work with it, unless you gang several LR6's together.
