Base is made of sand and disintegrates
By wilme2 from Dallas, TX on 3/14/2013
Pros:
Good Size, Artistic Design
Cons:
Flimsy Construction
Best Uses:
Living Room
Describe Yourself:
Midrange Shopper
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

After two or three years the weight in the base completely disintegrated when we simply moved the lamp to replace the bulb. Lamps Plus won't assist in replacing, so don't exepect to buy this and have it last.

We had a dark corner & had a hard time finding something stylish that would light it up properly & not take up too much space. This fit the bill exactly.

I have purchased many items from Lamps Plus and have never been disappointed until now. This was the worst product I have ever purchased from LP. Hardware was missing, it took every bit of four hours to assemble. You can look at the directions but they are useless and not even close to how you should try and assemble this product. If you manage to get it assembled it does illuminate the room well however I found it to be rather cheapely designed. If you want to move it from room to room you don't even need to unplug it as the cord is like 10ft long.

I love the design and the illumination the lamp provides. The only down side I had with the lamp were the assembly instructions. It was as if they were written by a Chinese lamp designer who was taking his first English lesson.

Looks nice but difficult to assemble

Aeembling the floor lamp was a nightmare. The instructions were not easy to follow. Getting the pole assembly attached to the base was the hardest part. The poles did not fit far enough through the base to securly tighten the nuts. The washers did not fit. I used power tools to tighten the nuts to stabilize the base. Fitting the top part together necessitated a trip to the store to take pics of the floor model to help put the lamp together. I complained to the store and they said bring the lamp in the next morning and they would assemble it. Would have been nice if they told me that when I bought the lamp. The cord is really, really long. Would not recommend unless Lamps Plus assembles the lamp. Very poor construction.

Brushed Steel Chrome Twst 175w Torchiere

If you are looking for a great lamp that once you replace the bulbs that come with it for great lighting, this is a keeper. I have found that replacing the bulbs that come with the lamp to be a 100% upgrade. Changing the bulbs does present a complication if you have the lamp in a position where you cannot tilt it down and have to use a step ladder to get to the bulb. I found that I broke the two current bulbs trying to get them out of the lamp until I rearranged bookshelves so that I could just tilt the lamp down to remove the bulbs. The stand his hefty and up to the task of holding this lamp in place on the thickest of carpets, so I would imagine this would be great on non-carpeted floors.
