I bought this as a 36th Anniversary Gift to myself & husband. It looked most closely like one (now broken) given to us when we moved into our home. It was lovelier than the picture online by a huge margin! While I was disappointed in the "electronic-sounding keyboard" chimes, I soon got used to them. They are not overbearing, though there is a way to silence them at night if you prefer. I leave ours on all the time. It was simple to unpack and set to activating the battery... just removed a slip of paper between the battery and the contact spot of the clock! It is the small things like this clock that turn a house into a home!
