Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

We had trouble finding a light that would work in our dining room with rosewood antique chinese furniture and dark red walls. This looks perfect. It arrived missing the nuts that attach the lamp to the mounting bracket, but they are standard size so it was easy to find some spares in my workshop. I was a little worried about how the glass mounts directly to the metal, but had no problems.
