I got this to replace my desk lamp in a home office where I work on a computer. The lamp is very tall and stable... I can bend the neck over the top of my monitors to illuminate the area in front where I have documents and the keyboard that slides out from under the desk. It's extremely adjustable and the base is heavy enough that it is stable in any configuration. The light coverage is less than my old halogen lamp though and not as bright. It took some getting used to, but there's enough light and coverage to read documents and type on the keyboard with no other lights on (once your eyes adjust), and since we're energy efficiency freaks... I realy like that it uses only 2 watts!
