Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Gorgeous lamp, but the assembly instructions are terrible so this product took much longer to put together than anticipated--It took 3 of us and 3 hours before we were finally able to put the flippin' thing together. To be honest, it really shouldn't take this long to assemble because the lamp arrives pretty much intact, but the devil is in all the little details that ARE NOT written with the instructions. All the work was worth it though, because the floor lamp truly is beautiful.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The Lamp is very difficult to put together. So far three people have tried and it is not clear how the arch is supposed to connect to the base. I also wish that you were able to adjust the height of the arch based on the space you are using it for.
