I purchased 2 of these lamps for my sideboard. They are GORGEOUS in person. The black shade emits a warm, sultry glow perfect for supplemental lighting while dining or as decorative lighting for the dining area without using the chandelier. The quality is impeccable; well made; weighty; and the black shade has a very good lining. If you want to use this lamp for reading or as the only light source in a room, you should order the white shade.
