Wall Light Styles and Tips

Many wall lights are specifically made for a particular room or home area, such as a hallway, porch or garage. For indoor use, homeowners can choose from standard, hard-wire designs that must be wired to a wall junction box or easy-to-install plug-in models. Plug-in designs include swing-arm fixtures for use in the bedroom and sconces that are ideal for hallways and entryways.

When installing wall light fixtures in a bathroom, a general rule of thumb is to mount the fixture 60-inches from the floor. Bath bars with multiple lights may be installed higher than this if mounted above a mirror or vanity sink. Consider ADA compliant fixtures that have a smaller profile when installing lights in a small bath or hallway.
