Can you use this indoors? We have a walk-through laundry room (from garage into the house). Everybody leaves that light on. We think a motion activated light which shuts off by itself would work great. But I'm not finding overhead motion lights for indoors.

How do I open it to change the bulb?
T H on Sep 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: There are two trim screws with knurled heads and straight screwdriver slots holding the cover to the base. You can see them on the picture on the Lamps Plus website. In the first picture, the screw is visible on the left side.

Once these two screws are removed, the cover comes straight down. There are four candelabra-base sockets on top of the foil heat shield parallel to the base.

How can I set the timer ?
Because it keeps lighting on and off every 30 seconds by itself,
How can I make it to light up only when someone is near the light?
Suzy K on Aug 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: To set the timer you set the ON TIME switch to 1, 5, or 10. If the fixture keeps lighting on and off every 30 seconds, most likely your sensitivity for the motion sensor is set too high whereby small animals or traffic is setting it off. The motion sensor is activated by the movement of heat across the coverage area. Dryer vents, heating vents, air conditioners, fenced-in animals and automobile traffic would falsely trigger the sensor. If you suspect that a heat source of this type is falsely triggering the sensor and reducing the sensitivity then you can reduce the sensitivity of the sensor. There are several ways of troubleshooting the problem and our technicians would be happy to walk you through it. Please contact one of our technicians and they will be happy to assist you. They can be reached by phone, email, or chat:

works beautifully!
We installed this light fixture at our front door entrance. It is very useful to be able to see better when opening the door without having to leave a light on the whole time you are gone. The 1 minute timer is plenty long enough to get into the house, but can be adjusted to stay on longer if needed.

Pros: Quality Construction, Easy To Install, Attractive Design, Great Value, Great Illumination

Simply Pefect
I ordered this light over a year ago and have not had to change any bulbs. It is used consistently at night (10 +) because of my porch being by a small two car paking space. I have not had one issue with this light. For that, I am purchasing one for my garage to mount on the ceiling for when we get in and out of the cars as my garage door opener has no light. This will be "SIMPLY PERFECT".

Pros: Great Value, Quality Construction, Great Illumination, Easy To Install, Attractive Design

Cons: Absolutely none

Best Uses: Excellent for my porch, Excellent for my garage

Works as advertised.
Easy to install and adjust. I have a car port. Medium sensitivity was the best for me. No false lightnings. When I step outside or pull up in the driveway the light comes on. Allso there is a light sensor built in to the unit. It won't light up during the day.

Pros: Easy To Install, Great Illumination, Attractive Design

Poor Motion Sensor
Would not recommend. Claims to have a 30 foot sensitivity distance. Not true even on High Sensitivity. Light is OK when it goes on though. Cannot use LED bulbs. Only incandescent recommended. Did not see that in the online literature.

Response from Lamps Plus
Hi Howard G., we checked with our product specialists and found that this item is indeed dimmable when using LED bulbs, as long as you are sure to purchase "dimmable" LEDs versus non-dimmable. If you did have dimmable LEDs already installed and still had this issue, please reach out to our customer service team directly for assistance. They are happy to help. Thank you.

Response from Lamps Plus
Hi Dennis P., so sorry to hear that your motion sensor light stopped working. Was it the sensor itself that was not functioning properly, and not the light? If so, please reach out to our customer service team via phone, email, or chat so they can look into troubleshooting some solutions with the sensor for you. Thank you.

Works very well
This light works very well on our front porch. We have had no problems with false triggering. The light always comes on as we approach on the walk after dark.

The build quality is excellent, and the fixture was easy to install. My only complaint (a tiny one) is that the punched-out holes for the mounting screws in the fiberglass insulation were not discarded before packaging, so a small clump of glass fibers fell loose when I removed the fixture from the box.

I was planning to test LED candelabra bulbs in the fixture, but I have a number of old 25W candelabra bulbs to go through before I get around to that. Installing only two lamps in this fixture throws off plenty of light for my application.
