Are the sides translucent or opaque? If translucent, how much?

BEST ANSWER: This shade has a tan lining inside and with it being a darker color, there will be some translucency. A lighter color shade or white shade will provide more translucency.
Is the color really crimson? If you look up crimson, it's red with a touch of blue, and this looks like it's more of a brick red or dark true red.

BEST ANSWER: I think the lampshade is a true garnet color. Lots of words to describe it but it's not a bright red. Most definitely lots of blue tint in this red. It's a very classy color. Too bad the quality isn't as nice as the color.

Not easy to return!
This shade was nice, however the color online is not the color it actually is, and the company DOES NOT pay, nor refund return shipping! They wanted me to pay more to ship mine back than what the whole order cost. Shipping fee back was $32.00, just a warning: Satisfaction IS NOT GUARANTEED!!!!!

Potentially beautiful. Lousy construction.
Remember, you get what you pay for. This lampshade is a beautiful garnet/deep wine color. Exactly what I wanted. Alas, there was glue showing along every seam but I kind of tucked all if in so it wasn't so obvious. Then I thought there was a loose thread on the backside of the shade but realized that the loose thread is actually in between the fabric and the inner liner. There is one of each side of the main body of the shade so I just had to pick the side that wasn't as bad. I had two photos to upload but this site can't even handle that!
