Can this light be wired to bypass the photo cell?

BEST ANSWER: There is a possibility. Here is the response of a customer about bypassing the photocell of his unit. "I did by pass the photo cell on my unit, there are two ways to do it. You can remove the photo cell and twist the two wires together, or the easiest way would be to put a piece of black tape over the photo cell to prevent light from entering unit, I used the tape. Mine is hooked up to a timer and has been working just fine with the tape to cover the photo cell for close to two years. Hope this helps."

BEST ANSWER: I do not see why not. But, this security light features a photocell and will only turn on when it is dark.
Is it open from below or it is glass enclosed? I get lots of bugs and I do not want them to get inside the glass shade.

I have not had really good luck with led lighting lasting as long as advertised... So my question is: can the bulbs used in this light be replaced. And are they readily available? Thanks

Will it work at temperature down to -5 degrees Fahrenheit?

BEST ANSWER: I use it as an outdoor security light the temp can go down to about 19 degrees Fahrenheit. I am not sure if it can work down to -5. The photocell might get compromised due to snow.

I am approx 20 feet high on the front gable of my house and this light , light's up my entire front yard , and is brighter than the bulb light I use to have . JUST HAD THIS INSTALLED TODAY. TURNED IT ON THIS EVENING, NICE BRIGHT LIGHT BUT IT DOESN'T STAY ON. GOES OFF AND ON. WHAT IS THIS PROBLEM?

BEST ANSWER: I had the same problem. Turns out mine was mounted too close to another structure. Thus... light bounces off... and fools the sensor. I had an electrician then bypass the sensor... and my light work from a switch. Course... no dawn to dusk feature... but my light now works perfectly!
Questions & Answers says it comes with a mounting arm, where can I see the mounting arm?

BEST ANSWER: The mounting for this item is designed to bolt directly to a wall. Mounting is about 2 1/2" wide and the steel pole you mentioned would be much larger than the fixture is designed for. You would have to build an adapter for it to fit the 3.5” size pole mentioned in the question.

BEST ANSWER: You could easily put this light on a switched circuit if you don't want it coming on automatically. Just flip the switch whenever you want it to come on. If you wanted it ti light up during the day, you'd have to tape over the photo cell.

BEST ANSWER: It depends on what you consider blinding. The output is 3500 lumens which is equivalent to 200 watts of incandescent light. And, it has a 5000K daylight color temperature. Therefore, it will not only provide a good deal of illumination, the color of the light will be a cool white.

BEST ANSWER: It isn't a solar light. It is wired to your home's electrical grid. It comes on at sundown and goes off at sunrise.

BEST ANSWER: This Floodlight works off your house electricity BUT has a sensor that turns it off & on @ Dawn & Dusk. No worries about yard lighting & security! It is economical & as Bright as I have ever seen. We have 2 of them (Front & Back of our Garage) & LOVE them! Our Neighbors do too!

Lightning sensitive!
Only operational a handful of nights before (I'm assuming) a illuminated thunderstorm killed the eye. I had this set up with a master on/off switch but the storm rolled through will sleeping, so the switch didn't save it. Will dismount soon and see if the 'eye' can be by-passed (use on/off switch and/or timer), hoping to save the unit as it has less than 36 hours on it.

Replaced Two Metal Halide Security Lights
I ordered one of these to replace a broken Metal Halide light. This light is far superior in terms of brightness and cost. A new Metal halide lamp is about $75 but bulbs cost anywhere from $10- $25 each.

Interestingly the mounting bracket was identical to the old lamp so I left the lag screws in place and slipped this on in.

I liked it so much I ordered a second one the following week. It is installed on a pole 17 feet in the air and lights up a radius of nearly 60 feet.

Despite the specifications listed on this site, the actual lamp sent is superior. It's 30 watts instead of 35 watts yet lights a 69 foot radius at 20 feet high instead of only 60 feet.

My entire front yard is lit up and the estimated operating cost per year is only $3.79.

I highly recommend this light.

Great Product
I ordered two of the lamps to replace units that were about 30 years old. One of the units was for over a large gate and the other on the garage. Both were up about 20 feet. Installation was easy. I am delighted with the amount of light that the LEDs put out. The only improvement that I might suggest is slightly longer "pig tail" wiring.
I have received several comments from friends.

Great security light
I bought two to add outdoor lighting around my house. The illumination is excellent . My next door neighbor was very pleased with the amount and level of illumination the unit produces. I also love the dusk to dawn feature as well, absolutely a plus, there is no need to turn the switch off/on.

SECURITY LIGHT
We replaced on old vapor security light with this LED light. We
liked the look for the dark exterior (the varpor had a large aluminum housing), lower profile, and the powerful light works better, and much more economically than what we replaced it with and no more purchasing the expensive vapor bulbs which were difficult to handle and replace. This was the perfect light for this location and we will be adding another one soon.
