hi can lamps that take a 40 watt bulb take a 60 watt bulb instead?
A shopper on Jul 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hello - Generally speaking, we do not recommend going over the given wattage for any type of lighting, so you should not use a 60 watt bulb for a lamp that's recommended for a 40 watt bulb.

However, you can go under the recommended wattage. For this particular lamp, a 60 watt or equivalent bulb is recommended, which means that you can safely use a 40 watt or equivalent bulb as well.
