BEST ANSWER: No, but the shade will glow a bit more when illuminated.
Is the shade wrap around or is it only the front half of the lamp? Thank you.

Very pleased with this purchase.
It's a bit different than the picture. It has only two vertical brass bars instead of three. But, that doesn't detract from it's look at all. It's sturdy and well built. It has exactly the look that we were searching for and looks great in my home.

We're very happy with our purchase.
