House of Troy Richmond Swing Arm Oiled Bronze Floor Lamp

Do not open the lamp box indoors. You will be picking up packing for days. The lamp is OK to put together, the shade is OK, but there isn't a harp in either package. All in all, a nice lamp and shade.

I had great hopes for this lamp. It looked classy and classic on line and had all the features I was looking for, such as a swing arm, 3-way light and adjustable height so despite the relatively high price, I felt it would be worth the investment and last a long time. Unfortunately, once assembled, the adjustable height aspect of the pole did not operate properly. No matter how we adjusted the dial to secure the pole into position, it kept collapsing into itself, at one point, breaking the light bulb due to the force of the collapsing pole. When we finally thought we got it into a position to hold (we really wanted it to work) we decided we would just leave it in one position and forego the adjustable height feature and keep it at a set height, we came down the next morning to find that the pole had collapsed into itself again. I reached out to customer service and they were great and within 48 hours I connected with a technician who listened to the problem we were having and said it must be defective as ithe pole should have held position. I was given the option to send it back for an exchange for another of the same make/model, or a return. So as not to have a reoccurrence of our first negative experience, I opted for the return. Packing it up and hauling it to a Fed Ex store was a hassle, but it was the only reasonable course of action at that point. Thankfully, Lamps Plus provided a return shipping label so there was no cost for the return. The lamp was not inexpensive, so I expected it to not only look good, but to be be functional as described. My experience with customer service and the tech at Lamps Plus was positive, so I would make another purchase and recommend the company, but unfortunately had a bad experience and would definitely not recommend this particular lamp,
