BEST ANSWER: Hi – there are some general guidelines on sizing a lamp shade. The height of the shade should be approximately the height of the base (to bottom of socket) x 60% up to 70%. The diameter (width) of the shade should NEVER exceed the height of the base (to the bottom of the socket) and should be within 2" of this dimension.
Does this have a wire in both top and bottom?

If my lamp is 23.50 inches from the base to the bottom of the socket and the base us 9 inches wide but 11 inches on the diagonal, what size shade should I buy?

Our existing shade is 11 in across the top, 17 across the bottom, and 16 inches tall. It fits perfectly but has gotten torn so we need to replace it. Would it be better go get this size shade or the next size bigger? Thanks!

BEST ANSWER: That really comes down to a matter of personal preference. This shade is only an inch smaller in each measurement. The larger shade will be two inches taller than your current shade. All of the shades come with the correct sized hard and either shade would look nice with your lamp based on the dimensions you provided.

Thrilled with my shades!!!
Finally I found shades that look great on my antique lamps! I took my lamps in & the first shades the salesman showed be were perfect! I've looked for years, bought & returned many at other stores. I was so happy that it was so easy after all these years. I've been using rotten shades because nothing looked right. Incredible selection & very knowledgable, friendly help. Definitely will return!
