Can this just be used as a down light only? I don't want any up light with where I'll be placing this.

BEST ANSWER: haven’t actually hung them yet but the inside has two slots for bulbs one up and one down just don’t insert a light bulb in the top slot. But they do sell them with just downward lights

The uplight bulb won’t short out when it rains with no lens on it?

BEST ANSWER: Hi - This outdoor wall light uses two maximum 120 watt standard-medium base BR40 bulbs. The bulbs are not included, but you may use LED as well.
