Nice looking but dim for 120 watts
I saw this originally on the lampsplus website[...] It looks great, easy to install (I had a previously existing wired box). Problems: the light of 3 40-watt bulbs (I used soft white) were diffused so much by the faux mica plates that the light was incredibly dim, like a single 40watt bulb. Wow, there is absolutely no way about this, and I should have installed it sooner and tried it out, that way I could have sent it back for a refund. What I had to do was remove the mica bottom (2 semi-circular pieces glued together) from the inside and replace it with frosted glass. Poor choice on the materials! Also, when you turn the light on, you will hear an initial crackling as the glue holding the faux mica together at the seams begins to expand. It is an annoying sound. I'm surprised they would market this. Of course, my glue could have been old, but then again, wrong glue used then.Would actually not recommend this for the price of [$]. Maybe $60. Overall, I'm happy. The mica looks processed and not natural. As a geology major who's seen enough biotite and muscovite mica, it's not mica in its natural state, but then again I don't know how mica is processed for lamp shade material.

Looks great but very dim
We've had this for over two years now, installed in the kitchen, and it looks great *but* had I known how dim the light was I never would have ordered it. I removed the faux-mica (blocks a lot of light) and installed plain muscovite mica sheets - now I have sufficient lighting. Still, not exceptionally bright but ok!
Pros: Attractive Design, Diffused Light
Cons: Dim
Best Uses: Low-level Lighting, Kitchen

love design
Great decoration piece but lighting is very dim due to 40 watt bulb requirement. Wouldn't use for primary light source. Pros: Easy To Install, Easy to Change Bulb, Attractive Design. Best Uses: Decoration, Ambiance.

Beautiful lamp for our long hallway
I loved these online but was hesitant after reading the comments but I loved the look of them so I bought two of them for our long hallway. They really are lovely. They look just like the picture. They add just the right look to a plain white hallway. I was afraid the mica might be too yellow and diffuse the light too much, but the picture is pretty much right on and they give out plenty of light. My husband had a hard time installing them, I don't know why. I heard a lot of cussing but I know better than to ask any questions about it!

We bought 3 of these and love them.
These work great with a dimmer too. The light fixtures are very rustic and instantly transform a boring hallway into a gorgeous one and one can't help but to admire the fixtures along the way. And the price is budget friendly.
Pros: Attractive Design, Diffused Light, Easy To Assemble, Great Value
