I would love to buy this lamp, could I purchase a black lamp shade for this?

I see a lot of Aqua in the lamp. I also see some purple? My bedroom walls are painted a dark steel gray/grape. I love the look of the lamp and I'm hoping there is some purple in it?

BEST ANSWER: The manufacturer lists the base color as blue. But, because the finish is hand-applied, the color and pattern may vary slightly. In my eyes, I really do not see much purple in the color of the lamp shown online.
Does the cord come out from the base or up by the lightbulb?

BEST ANSWER: This lamp can use a maximum 150 watt bulb, but it does not have a 3-way socket switch.
The description on the Marcus mercury glass lamp says off white colored shade but looks very white in the picture. If it truly is off white, could A white shade in the same dimensions be substituted?

BEST ANSWER: I ordered these lamps a while ago - The Lampshades are definitely considered white, not off-white. If you are looking for something very close to "pure" white, these will work for you. I can say, as an Interior designer, that the color of the shade seemed very bright at first, but it truly enhances the beauty of the base colors.
Is it heavy enough not to tip over easily?

BEST ANSWER: The lampshade is solid, not sheer, but is wonderfully bright. So I guess the light comes through, but you cannot see the bulb. Does that make sense?

Nice lamp, but the design ended up being different than I thought.
The lamp turned out to be a little different than I had it pictured. The design is a little 1980’s but it’s grown on me. Unfortunately I knocked it over about 10 minutes after putting it together and it cracked in half. So just in case this happens to someone else... use clear “gorilla” glue and let it set for a day or two... good as new. You can hardly even see the crack.

The lamp is more attractive than pictured. You can see through it in spots, letting it pick up more color from the room. I would have given it 5 stars but where the base of the lamp stands on furniture, there is no padding and the base is rather rough which will cause the furniture to scratch.
