BEST ANSWER: No, I would say the base is a true brass color and maybe slightly gold. It doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb if that’s what you’re worried about. We’re very happy with ours and would highly recommend this lamp.

Can this be purchased with a sliver/nickle/steel base rather than brass? It's perfect except for the brass.

Exactly right for our new master bedroom
I bought two of these matching lamps and put them on night stands on either side of a king-sized bed. They were perfect for the space in size, color, shape, and design, and also very sturdy. This lamp is a great spin-off of the classic oriental jar lamps that can be quite pricey. The shade was well proportioned and looked very much like a silk shade. This lamp looks great with walls in grays or blues and crisp white woodwork. Both my husband and I loved them from the first time we saw them on-line and the actual product does not disappoint. A great lamp at a good price.

Great lamp

Excellent choice
The lamp is exactly as pictured. The background is a mottled look, not pure white, which is what I wanted. The lampshade looks like silk and looks beautiful when the lamp is on. The metal base is a lovely burnished brass look. Love it!
