This galvanized steel wall sconce was inspired by industrial style barn lighting, and can be installed indoors or outside.

From the Urban Barn collection by John Timberland, this indoor-outdoor wall light comes in a charming industrial farmhouse style. The frame features a wide downlight shade attached to the end of a thin, arching gooseneck arm. Made to look like galvanized steel, this fixture offers a hardy industrial look. Perfect for use in a porch or patio area.

Is this fixture rated for Coastal use?

BEST ANSWER: This outdoor wall light is wet location rated and very durable for outside usage, but the finish is not meant for coastal areas. For resistance to salt-air in coastal environments, you should select a fixture with a "Marine Grade" finish. We have an array of great choices including Vivex, Coastal Armor and more. Are the shades interchangeable ? I purchased an 8.5” wide sconce and would like a bigger shade for the room the light is in

BEST ANSWER: Not all items are. But, this particular item is UL and CUL listed.
I purchased seven of these for an exterior application in a coastal region three years ago. They are starting to rust. Do I need to prepare in any special way before repainting?

BEST ANSWER: We would recommend light sanding, cleaning it good and using an outdoor and heat resistant paint. But, please check with your local hardware stores paint department for the best method and recommend paint to use.

Great quality and light
I installed this light over my stairs to replace a terrible choice by the builder [three light bathroom vanity light?!] I had been thinking about a higher priced barnyard light, but found this- classic design, i have it in the galvanized finish, it casts a warm glow on the wall and stairs, and looks great even when it isn't on. Highly recommend and I am thinking about buying another for outdoors.

We didn't install it but the electrician said it was very easy and is a great product. We like the design and it gives great light by the front door.

I would buy again in a second
Put this light in my bathroom for a rustic look, it looks great over the medicine cabinet that has a pine finish. Attractive for indoors or out. Just the look I wanted! Not too masculine either!

Exactly what I pictured...
This gooseneck light adds style where there was none. All the homes in my neighborhood have a floodlight over the garage. They're just downright ugly. I love the barn light style and this one was perfect for the spot!

Pretty good considering the price and my outdoor install
Have had two of these installed for about a year now, fully exposed to the elements on a rooftop deck about a 1/4 mile from the beach in Southern California. The design is what I had in mind. Lights still work. The galvanized coating has held up pretty well so far but its a skimpy layer and it's already showing some rust through. But hey it's industrial chic, right? So let's just say it adds to the steam punk charm. If I get five or six years of service out of these relatively cheap Chinese made lights I'll be happy.
