BEST ANSWER: The lamp weighs 22 lbs. The metal shade is about 1/16 thick. To dim the light you can use an add on foot dimmer.

BEST ANSWER: Hi Melissa - That really depends on what light bulbs you use with the design, the brightness varies depending on the what bulbs you choose. This lamp does take three maximum 60 watt bulbs, which together should be plenty bright enough.
