BEST ANSWER: Most can definitely read by a 60 watt bulb. But, I have added an LED bulb below which will have an equivalency to a 75 watt incandescent bulb you can use.

When not turned on is the lamp shade a dark purple?

BEST ANSWER: I have 3 if these. A floor lamp and 2 tabletop. I would not call the shade dark purple, when off. It is more of a deep orchid. Not sure that helps you! The lamps are very pretty and work well with my purplish Victorian style sofa. I would recommend them!
What are the measurements of the base of lamp?

BEST ANSWER: The base is 5.5 inches square and 5/8 of an inch thick. The whole base of the lamp is about 2.5 inches in height.

BEST ANSWER: The photo is quite true in color. I think it would be fine. I added a floral arrangemt to carry the color, and added some White and gray accessories,pillows.
They are pretty in the sunlight too. Very pleased ☺

Want two for mysel!
I saw this lamp & thought it was perfect for my sister. It is even more beautiful in person and was a homerun hit at Christmas. The jeweltone colors just pop! Now she's expecting the mate for it on her birthday!

I put this lamp in my guestroom in a reading nook. It gives great light for reading but don't count on it to light a room.Very well made.
I love the look. It's more beautiful than I had hoped. My husband even said it was beautiful and he doesn't comment on much.

This lamp is purplelicious!
I have a very contemporary style, but this lamp really accents my living room furniture. I have a maize sofa, lime green chair, terra cotta chaise and a purple arm chair. This lamp compliments very nicely.

Received as a gift and love it!
