High quality, easy assembly, very sturdy
We wanted a larger side table to fit a large lamp, with a higher second shelf to allow us to slip our shoes underneath when we come in the front door, since we don't have a hallway. We loved the simple design of this piece, which would work for industrial, modern, mid-century, or transitional rooms.
The catch: we needed a champagne color metal (i.e., brushed silver with gold undertones), but none of the tables we liked came in anything but dark bronze or gray, so we opted to buy the best table for our needs and paint it. (Happy to say, this was SO SIMPLE - more info below).
ASSEMBLY: Took me 20 minutes to assemble by myself with just the provided star-tip allen wrench, sitting on the livingroom floor. If you have arthritis you'll need help as the screw placement means you need to be able to pinch the screws and manually start them in place, or else plan to use a star-tip power drill to help.
GLASS: You assemble the full frame, flip it over, and drop the glass in. The glass is HEAVY. The glass is tempered, and this table does not move! It says max of 20 lbs per shelf - I think that's mainly to warn you off storing piles of heavy hardback books on the bottom shelf, though you can definitely put 3-5 stacked flat and be under that weight limit, if that's your idea.
FEET/LEVELING: The feet aren't like any I've seen before - they're almost like suction cups on ball bearings - they rotate freely. You can partially unscrew them to level it, but I love how totally stable it is. Nothing's moving this sucker! And we've got old, real hardwood floors (i.e., uneven).
DIY PAINT JOB: I used a full can of Rust-o-leum spraypaint in "Champagne" metallic, from Home Depot. One coat, holding can 8" away, moving arm constantly, allow to dry 15 min, apply second coat, allow to dry 15 min., and check for dark spots and touch up (esp. edges of the legs, and feet) with quick passes. I painted the feet b/c they're black and it's sitting on a hardwood floor. Tip: allow to dry 24 hours before moving to avoid risk of fingerprints!
