Lamps Plus Sponsors Design Bloggers Conference Attendee Scholarships

Award from the Lighting Retailer Allows Five Recipients to Attend the Conference for Free

Los Angeles – March 5, 2018

Lamps Plus announced today the winners of the 2018 Design Bloggers Conference scholarship award. The award allowed five recipients to be able to attend the conference for free, and gave each of them a stipend for travel expenses. Lighting retailer Lamps Plus is a platinum sponsor of the Conference and scholarship, marking the second time the company has participated in the event, the first being in 2013.

The five scholarship recipients represent a diverse cross-section of talented new interior designers from all around the country. The winners were:

Dayna Hairston from Raleigh, North Carolina.

Sarah Montgomery of Chicago, Illinois.

Morgan Motsinger of Tillamook, Oregon.

Kevin Ogara of Atlanta, Georgia.

Sarah Wilson of Bowie, Maryland.

Three veteran interior designer mavens acted as scholarship judges and help select the winning recipients. They were:

Dee Murphy – the designer and stylist behind the Murphy Deesign interior design firm, Dee is also the editor of the Murphy Deesign blog which covers fashion, lifestyle, travel, decor and family. She was a Lamps Plus Design Bloggers Conference scholarship recipient in 2013.

Laurie Laizure – founder of Interior Design Community, a thriving site where those working in the interior design and home decor industry can connect to learn and grow their businesses.

Vern Yip – award winning celebrity interior designer and television personality, Vern runs his own design company in Atlanta, Georgia, Vern Yip Designs, has a popular website, and is noted columnist and television host.

Lamps Plus was drawn to The Design Bloggers Conference as a way to connect with interior design bloggers and designers using content to build their businesses and personal brands. The conference offers attendees a unique opportunity to participate in the intersection of interior design and new media including blogging, social media, e-commerce, digital branding, book publishing, line promotion, and more. 2018 speakers included Jamie Drake, Miles Redd, Michelle Workman, and Justina Blakeney, among others.
