Hello, my name is Lesley and I have a confession - I'm obsessed with black and white home decor. I've been in love with zebra prints since my wild days as a teenager with a zebra bedspread and lime green walls. Bold black and white damask prints excite me. Heck, even the color scheme for my own wedding was black and white! So instead of denying this integral part of who I am (because if you know me, it's really quite easy to spot!) I thought I'd share some of the products and spaces that have been fueling my two-toned passion.
In a bedroom, a gallery-style wall in monochromatic black and white makes a bold design statement. I've complemented this artful display wall with an elegant mirrored chest, a sleek black table lamp, and a fantastic retro wall clock.
Living room accent chairs are a great place to make a statement - a smaller commitment than a sofa, a graphic side chair can bring a punch to a dull seating area. If you're feeling wild try a bold chevron print; if subtlety is more your speed, a sophisticated faux leather accent chair might do the trick.
And in my opinion, a zebra rug is never wrong. (Even if it's wrong, I don't want to be right!)
What's your take on black and white home decor? Love it or hate it?

Hi. I’m Lesley. I’m a collage artist and interior stylist. Common advice tells me to pick one discipline and focus on it – but I’ve never been known for being common. I make beautiful things and create beautiful spaces, because surrounding yourself with beauty and inspiration just makes life better. Your home and the things in it should feel effortlessly mixed and matched, with just a little bit of weird thrown in. The unexpected keeps life interesting.
My design talents have been showcased as a junior designer at Kimberley Seldon Design Group (Toronto); project manager at Studio La Beauté (Toronto); showroom manager at Reid & Lyons Designer Trimmings (Toronto); freelance designer at Burnham Design (Los Angeles); and interior design stylist at Lamps Plus and 55 Downing Street (Los Angeles).
