The triangle above illustrates the rule of three.
We all have a collection of pieces that we love, or those home décor objects that have special meaning or remembrance.
But have you ever wondered how to display them together so they look great? Well worry no longer, here are 3 tried and true display tips.
1. The Rule of ThreeThe rule of three is one of the most versatile decorating basics. Items in groups of three have more visual appeal.
To get the most impact from this rule arrange two of the three more closely together, in the case above, the vase and bowl.
The wall art is consider the third piece.
The triangular arrangement draws the eye in and this dynamic place encourages your eye to travel from one piece to the next (see above).
2. MerchandizeDecorators and designers know that the guidelines used for effective visual display in stores can also be applied to home décor. The point is to draw attention to your favorite collections – not just fill empty space on a table or wall. The easiest groupings are those in which the items go together by theme or color.
3. Unify Items that would appear unrelated in another setting go well together when bridged by a unifying object. Paintings are a great example of this technique. The colors found in the painting unify all the objects.
