Pantone top five colors for spring: Tangerine Tango, Sodalite Blue, Cabaret Pink and more.

With dreary February behind us, it becomes easier every day to believe that spring is just around the corner. It’s the season of new beginnings and fresh starts and there’s no better way to bring its spirit into your life and home than with new colors - on the walls and in your closet.

But where to go for inspiration? Why not do what the pro’s do and look to international color arbiter Pantone, whose carefully worked out color matching systems have made it an inspiration to decorators and designers around the world. You can even find nods to the firm in Paris, where museum shops are now stocked with Pantone coffee mugs in the latest colors.

Each year and season, the New Jersey-based company names its top colors. This spring, why not take your own cue from their list of the five colors Pantone says will be the fashion-forward statements for Spring 2012, setting the tone for furniture and home decor.

They’re a mix of bright and deep hues and at number one is Tangerine Tango, which is everything the name implies. Next up is a buttery yellow dubbed Solar Power, followed by Bellflower’s rich violet,  the rich tones of Sodalite Blue, which is just a touch lighter than a true navy and Cabaret's candy-box pink.

As Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of Pantone’s Color Institute, puts it, we all “look to spring for renewed energy, optimism and the promise of a brighter day.” Any one of these shades will deliver exactly that.
