How in the world do you get the bottom off to fill the lamp? Help!

Is the base round or oval?
How wide is the base of the lamp? I'm thinking of buying a usb port 'disk' to place under the lamp base.
BEST ANSWER: Hi - The base measures 8 7/8" W x 6 1/4"D. This will not work with the USB outlet accessory which accommodates lamp bases up to 7 1/2" wide.

Awesome Display Lamp!
Love it! I especially like the bubbling in the glass. We have it in our sunroom and I’ve filled it right now to go with the season. One friend really went crazy for it when she saw it.
