What Makes a Good Entryway Table
Entryway tables are a wonderful accent for a hall, entry area, mudroom, or foyer. They help create a finished, beautiful space that's the perfect area to greet family and friends. And they also provide a functional table space as well, giving you a place to drop off packages, mail, or your keys before you enter your main home space.
A good table should fit the proportions of your entry room. If you have a narrow or small entryway, use a table that is not very deep, so that it doesn't interrupt the traffic flow in and out of the space. Designs with lower shelves are particular useful, giving you additional storage and display room. Entry tables should be around 32" or 34" high so that you can comfortably reach out to them.
If you have a larger entryway space, then you can opt for a deeper console or sofa table. These will sometimes have drawer fronts which help hide clutter while still giving you storage area. The height of these larger tables should be roughly what was listed above.
In either case, you use the top table surface to create a warm and welcoming look. Place an accent lamp on top to light the area at night, and display collectibles or photos to personalize the entry area. These types of tables also help define a wall area if you wish to hang wall art above them.
