Designed with a wide, open wood oval body stained in Bennford natural, this lamp uses natural materials to create relaxed refinement. Does this light give light from the top, shade looks dark. Would you be able to read by this light?

BEST ANSWER: The shade on this lamp does allow light to shine both out the top and through the fabric. However, we would consider this light better for mood lighting than task lighting.
