SHADES CAN'T BE WASHED
The chandelier itself is gorgeous and very heavy. The biggest con is the shades can only be cleaned with a dry cloth, which isn't stated in any information...online or in the chandelier's box itself. I tried to clean them by washing them a few weeks ago and to my disappointment the paint came off in strings. There isn't any type of sealant over the spray painted finish on the glass shades and there isn't any place on earth where these shades can be replaced. The shades that come with the chandelier are the only shades that will fit this chandelier. I only gave 3 stars because not being able to wash off cooking grease, cigarette smoke or any other environmental factors is a BIG issue for me especially on a chandelier that cost more than $1000. If you're the type to never clean your chandelier shades, globes, etc, then you have nothing to be concerned about, however, the consumer should be warned about how to care for and how NOT to care for these particular shades. CONSUMERS BEWARE!
All six shades washed in tepid water w/mild dish liquid using only my hands over the shades.
Washed in tepid water w/mild dish liquid using only my hands to clean left me with this result.
The end result trying to wash the shades w/tepid water and dish liquid using only my hands to clean.
Paint was removed in strings while washing to clean by only using my hands over the shades..
After trying to wash the shades in tepid water and dish liquid, this is what happened.
